Types of
ceramic tile
Following are the types of ceramic tile most often found
in the market:
|
Wall Tile
Glazed, pressed tile suitable for interior use only. |
|
Stoneware Floor Tile
Pressed tile made of vitrified clay. |
|
Porcelain Tile
A dense, pressed tile with an impervious body. |
|
Rustic Stoneware Tile
A compact, extruded tile, suitable for industrial
use. |
|
Terra Cotta Tile
Thick-bodied, non-vitreous, extruded tile made from
natural clay. |
|
Tumbled
Unglazed and glazed material is mechanically or
chemically altered, using various processes, to
create a rustic, antiqued or distressed surface.
|
|
Full Glaze Polished & Lapatto
Identical in nature to the terms polished and semi-polished
that describe techniques used on unglazed tile.
On glazed tile, full polish is achieved by highly
polishing the entire glazed surface. Lapatto (partial
polish) is the effect on a textured surface, when
high areas of the glaze get polished and low areas
do not. |
|
Rectified
Tile, glazed or unglazed, is cut on all sides (usually
with water-jet technology) after its final firing |
